We know that worldly life is nothing but a game and a distraction, a test. Our sole purpose is to earn the love and pleasure of our Lord. We have not been able to see the Messenger of Allah (sas) or his companions! But there are righteous people who have attained the same state as them and who guide us to live in that state, and through whom we can learn the subtleties of this path, praise be to Allah. Through their Sufi way of life, they have purified their hearts through spiritual inheritance under the leadership of our most beautiful guide, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and have continued to illuminate our path until their last breath.
The Sufi Mahmud Es'ad Coşan (may Allah have mercy on him) says: "Sufism is the morality of the Qur'an, the inner states and conditions of the Messenger of Allah, and the subtle etiquette of the Sharia. Sufism is not selfishness but selflessness, mercy, love, and service; not empty words or verbosity, but sincerity, devotion, and wisdom; it is purity of heart, the loftiness of knowledge, and the production of righteous deeds; it is not mere talk, but beautiful conduct; it is a rose against a stone, an antidote against poison; it is light for the eyes and joy for the heart."
‘(O Messenger!) Say: If you love Allah, follow me, and Allah will love you and forgive your sins. For Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.’ (Âl-i Imrân, 3:31) Living in accordance with this verse and exemplary lives adorned with the character of our Prophet...
‘Scholars are the heirs of the prophets.’ (Abu Dawud, Knowledge, 1) In accordance with this hadith, beautiful people who have received their inspiration from the true source that revives and guides our hearts, who are pious and righteous... Righteous servants whose hearts are gladdened by the blessings of the Qur'an and Sunnah...
The merciful breezes blowing from the Age of Bliss have brought a refreshing coolness to many hearts. Who knows, perhaps this work will allow many hearts to smell the fragrance of roses and experience that spiritual climate in our time.
‘Whoever takes Allah, His Messenger, and the believers as protectors and friends, then indeed, they are the party of Allah. They will surely be the victorious ones.’ (Al-Ma'idah, 5:56) We are thus promised good news if we follow them.
How fortunate we are that we have the opportunity to benefit from this path, which has been passed down from generation to generation, unbroken, from our Master (saw) to the present day. We are grateful to the writing team for their contributions in compiling and presenting information from authentic and reliable sources, which is the result of three years of research and meticulous work.
For the Silsile-i Hâcegân book is the first work to bring together in a single volume the lives of distinguished personalities from our noble Prophet (peace be upon him) to Muharrem Nureddin Coşan Hocaefendi.
O Allah! I ask You for Your love, the love of those who love You, and the deeds that will lead me to Your love.
‘May your love be true, and may what you love be of value.’
