The book titled ‘From Eve to Zaynab: In the Footsteps of Women,’ published by Server Yayınları, is the book version of the author's radio programme titled ‘The Queens of the Path of Truth,’ which was broadcast on Akra FM during Ramadan in 2006. The book tells the stories of distinguished women who were honoured by the Islamic religion.
Unlike previous works, these lives, which can serve as examples and guides for all believers, both men and women, at every stage of their lives, have not been written in the form of biographies. The book does not follow traditional historical narration. In line with its purpose, each life has been analysed, and aspects that can serve as guidance for people today, especially women, have been highlighted. With the belief that it may offer a solution to the identity crises faced by women today, the similarities between life 14 centuries ago and life today have been emphasised, and the differences in attitudes towards events have been brought to light. The individuals described are examined together with the period they lived in, the events and people they were connected to, their families, siblings and children, and their social environment.
"By virtue of her creation, woman has the power to influence all of humanity directly or indirectly. Her troubled, irresponsible, reckless, frivolous, aimless, and characterless nature can cause an entire society to become aimless and wander from one rock to another, just like the mother who shapes and moulds it.
Lifting her head from the stones and finding honour in prostration and bowing, the Islamic woman has, since the creation of the world, naturally succeeded in becoming a heroine of faith, virtue, piety, and chastity. So much so that throughout their lives, these women have fought against dangers, obstacles, and destructive enemies that threatened their very existence, without wavering in their positions, These women, who have endured hunger, deprivation, and certain death with ease, have left their mark on the world, and their insignia has been presented to them in heaven by the Hand of Power.
They are the women who have been neglected by the women of this century in their search for role models. The exemplary women of Islam, forgotten for various reasons, even by women themselves out of fear that they might bring new responsibilities... These are the examples of pride that we seek far away, yet they stand tall right beside us. The courageous Queen Asiye, who rebelled against Pharaoh; the wise and determined young mother of Jesus, Maryam; Maryam, the fearless and self-sacrificing daughter of our Prophet, Fatima al-Zahra, her wife Khadija al-Kubra, who was honoured in a way unseen in the world, and all the others who cannot be listed here...
In order to leave a lasting impression on the reader's mind and to provide a imaginary transition from the foggy atmosphere of this time to the bright days of the Golden Age, the characters have been given voices and the topics have been dramatised. By explaining the women who lived centuries ago using contemporary definitions and concepts, the aim is to reduce the differences in time and understanding, thereby incorporating these ‘real-life heroes’ into the ‘reality of life.’
