The late Prof. Dr. Mahmud Es'ad Coşan served as a faculty member at the Department of Turkish-Islamic Literature in the Faculty of Theology for many years, teaching courses such as Turkish Composition and Turkish-Islamic Literature. In addition, he taught ‘Turkish Language and Humanities’ at the Ankara Yükseliş Engineering and Architecture Private Higher School during the 1967-68 academic year and at the Sakarya State Academy of Architecture and Engineering between 1977 and 1980.
He also participated in the ‘Turkish Language and Literature Specialisation Commission’ of the Ministry of National Education's Board of Education and Training. The notes he prepared for the aforementioned courses were compiled over time and turned into a book.
This book, which has been published in various editions and has benefited many people, is actually a guide for all segments of society who aim to educate themselves, develop their culture, broaden their horizons, and become well-educated, cultured, well-mannered, useful to society, and eloquent individuals, just as it is for high school and university students.
In addition, Mahmud Es'ad Coşan, in this work, demonstrates the golden rules of productive and systematic work, the ways to strengthen memory and develop reasoning skills, and provides the necessary information on the techniques of being attentive, reading extensively, listening well, taking good notes, and organising speaking and writing activities.
We are fully confident that this book, which serves as a handbook for the youth, will arouse interest and affection in the topics discussed and fulfil its role as a guide.
