Prof. Dr. Mahmud Es'ad Coşan
Mahmud Esad Coşan was born in 1938 in Çanakkale, Turkey, and became a respected Islamic scholar, author, and spiritual leader. After studying Arabic and Persian at Istanbul University, he completed his doctorate in Islamic literature and later became a professor at Ankara University. In 1980, following the passing of his teacher Mehmed Zahid Kotku, he became the leader of the İskenderpaşa community, a prominent branch of the Naqshbandi Sufi order. He devoted his life to integrating Islamic values with modern life through education, social responsibility, and cultural work. His many writings and sermons inspired a wide audience. Mahmud Esad Coşan passed away in 2001 in a car accident in Australia, but his spiritual legacy continues to influence people today.
