Cemâleddin el-Kâsımî
Cemâleddin el-Kâsımî (1866–1914) was a prominent Islamic scholar, reformer, and jurist from Damascus. He is best known for his works on tafsir (Quranic exegesis), particularly his renowned commentary "Mahâsinü’t-Te’vil". El-Kâsımî was a key figure in the Salafi reform movement, advocating for a return to the original sources of Islam - Quran and Hadith - while opposing blind adherence to traditional legal schools. He also emphasized the importance of modern education and rational thought within the framework of Islamic teachings. His efforts contributed significantly to religious and intellectual reforms in the late Ottoman Empire.
